Bebel Gilberto
An international cast of
the world’s best dance, hip-hop and
electronica producers have remixed the
songs from Six Degrees recording artist
Bebel Gilberto's Grammy nominated,
self-titled CD. From well known masters
like Thievery Corporation, Tom
Middleton, Guy Sigsworth, DJ Spinna and
Grant Nelson to such fast rising new
talents as Spiritual South, Yam Who? and
Telefon Tel Aviv, Bebel Gilberto
Remixed collects an impressive cross
section of some of the dance world’s
brightest stars.
Winter was remixed by
Nuspirit Helsinki, a multi-talented
Finnish collective of DJs, producers and
musicians that used a team of 7
musicians (including a string quartet)
to create and record this new
arrangement. Nuspirit Helsinki has
done remixes and production work for
Yoko Ono, Astor Piazzola, Nicola Conte,
and has ascended to the forefront of the
European neo-jazz scene on the strength
of their productions for Jazzanova/Compost,
Guidance and Ubiquity.

Zuco
103
Whaa!
is the third album by
Six Degrees recording artists Zuco 103,
the Brazilian/European band who have
consistently positioned themselves at
the vanguard of the world/electronic
movement. In addition to the group's
trademark blend of Brazilian and
electronic styles, Zuco 103 have added
Afro-Cuban, Ethiopian, West African and
dub spicings to this new project.
Musical guests include legendary
dub/reggae pioneer Lee "Scratch Perry,
bossa nova hero Roberto Menescal and
vocalist Dani Macaco of the Spanish band
Macaco.
On “Na Mangueira” , Zuco
103’s vocalist, Lilian Vieira, displays
her versatility with reedy Billie
Holiday inflections. The Montreal
Gazzete says of the album “…delectably
eclectic Brazilian electronica…a
fluttery, funky good time” 4 stars =
wonderful. |
